About Multi-Pitch Tape Feeders for the GSM® Platform

Universal's Multi-Pitch Tape Feeders incorporate electronically adjustable pitch settings to process a wide tape range. An electronically adjustable pitch selector controls each MPTF: Feeder-mounted push buttons change the pitch in less than 2 seconds. So, rather than using dedicated pitch feeders, you can utilize MPTFs to decrease feeder inventory carrying costs. For instance, the MPTF handles 4mm to 40mm tape pitches. That's 10 standard feeders. Additionally, a 3-button interface provides bi-directional tape movement. Tape advancement is also enhanced. A microprocessor-controlled stepper motor replaces the pneumatic drive system for smooth tape advancement, improving component presentation to reduce component mis-picks.

Spliceable Multi-Pitch Tape Feeders

The 8mm and 12mm Spliceable Multi-Pitch Tape Feeders maximize feeder flexibility and utilization, reducing feeder-related manufacturing and carrying costs, by combining the ability to handle multiple tape pitches and to replenish component reels without stopping. By allowing a new component reel to be validated and spliced onto the input tape of an existing reel without removing the feeder, components can be continually replenished in-line without stopping placement machine operation.
